Youth Center Program
for U6 through U12

Children play soccer for many different reasons.  Some play for the love of soccer, some for the camaraderie, some for the competition, some because their parents think they should and some because they want to be a National or Professional player someday.

We all know that children develop, mentally and physically, at different rates.  The U6-U12 Youth Center Program is designed to offer an alternative to local recreational programs, for players that have reached a higher level of soccer skill and are ready for a greater challenge.  The program is also designed to be a “bridge” between recreational soccer and advanced soccer for the U6 through U12 players.  This “bridge” reflects the philosophy of United States Youth Soccer that the U6 through U12 players are too young for the highly competitive advanced programs.

Because it is more important that players develop within the proper framework at this age, the Youth Center Program stresses player development over team wins and losses. The curriculum is designed specifically for U6 through U12 youth players in The Youth Center Program, therefore, your sons and daughters will be assured a proper, age specific learning environment.

Philosophy - To develop skills and techniques to play “The Beautiful Game of Soccer.”  The focus of the Youth Center Program will be the expression of the player and his/her ability.  We want to open the door of creativity for every player with a soccer ball.  We also want the parents to understand the appropriate process of player development.  We want to provide our developing players with all the tools necessary to succeed. This program lays the foundation for many years of fun and competitive play for years to come.

Team Formation - All players who register will be permitted to play in the Youth Center Program.  The DOC and his appointed staff will evaluate players.  There will be no set teams.  Players will be shuffled weekly to play their respective games.

Training Schedule - The Youth Center Director will develop the training program. The emphasis will be on the technical development of the players. This will be accomplished by a maximum number of touches on the ball, getting players comfortable with the ball at their feet, the encouragement of players to be creative and take players on.  We want to create a passion for the game through a fun training environment.  All players will train two times per week.  A third session each week will be used to encourage player to use creativity through small sided games.

Purpose -   The program will stress player development over wins and losses. It is much more important to develop players within the proper framework at this age as opposed to demanding players and teams must win at all costs. The curriculum will be designed specifically for youth players in The Youth Center Program. Youth Center players will be assured a proper, age specific learning environment.  Our philosophy is to develop skills and techniques to play “The Beautiful Game of Soccer.”  Winning is not a priority, rather the expression of the player and his/her ability is vital.  We want to open the door of creativity for every player with a soccer ball.  There will be an educational system in place for the parents as well. We need parents to understand the process of player development.   The Youth Center program will lay a strong foundation for the players for years to come.
